Do staging and development sites count towards my activation limit?

The short answer is no, your staging and development websites will not count towards your site activation limit.

The long answer is we might not always be able to detect that the website is for staging / development purposes when you activate a license, and then it would count towards your site limit.

Staging and development sites on these web hosting providers are automatically detected:

• WP Engine
• InstaWP
• Cloudways
• Kinsta
• GoDaddy
• FlyWheel
• BlueHost
• HostGator
• SiteGround

Any website with a domain name matching these formats will be excluded from the site count:

• *.staging.example.org
• *.test.example.org
• staging-*.example.org
• dev.example.org

Finally, any website that sets the WordPress environment to a value other than “production” will be excluded.
